Case Study #2 - Great Toe Ulceration
Patient was referred to clinic by vascular surgeon for "nail trimming" until amputation could be scheduled due to poor vascular status of the patient. Dr. Aung requested that she be given a chance to resolve the wound (in duration for 2 years) and salvage the great toe and avoid amputation.
In place of sharp debrided due to vascular status an enzymatic debridement ointment was utilized to remove necrotic tissue. Wound was dressed with moist gauze (with normal saline), and enzymatic ointment until complete wound closure and great toe salvage was achieved in 11 weeks.
