It is very important for diabetics to take the necessary precautions to prevent all foot related injuries. Due to the consequences of neuropathy, daily observation of the feet is critical. When a diabetic patient takes the necessary preventative foot care measures, it reduces the risks of serious foot conditions.

Footwear is an integral part of comprehensive foot care. Many foot problems are affected by the style and fit of your shoes, In addition, the success of the treatment plan that Dr. Aung prescribed can be affected by your shoes. Aung FootHealth Clinics has made appropriate footwear available to you as part of the overall treatment of your foot condition. The footwear displayed in our office and on our website has been selected based upon the quality, sizing and comfort features that are most appropriate for foot suffering patient.

While all of the shoes that you see displayed both in our office setting and on healthy-feet.com are available at retail stores, finding them is another problem. Bearing this in mind Dr. Aung and her staff have developed an expansive range of product styles and sizes to address the specific needs of each of our patients.

With the passing of the Therapeutic Shoe Bill, Medicare (Part B) extended coverage to diabetic patients for footwear and shoe inserts. Upon their initial visit with Dr. Aung each diabetic patient has a comprehensive foot examination performed and if the patient falls into a "at risk" category they are in turn eligible and entitled to receive this benefit.

Each year, the patients who qualify, are entitled to receive one pair of "depth" shoes and three pairs of removable shoe inserts. Podiatric physicians are authorized to both prescribe and dispense these products. A certifying letter from the patient's physician, certifying the diabetic status of the patient is required. Dr. Aung and her staff are actively involved in this meaningful benefit for their "at risk" patients with the protection that they may need in a comprehensive team care approach to avoiding complications associated with diabetes and in reducing amputation risk factors.

As stated earlier the Therapeutic Footwear Program offered through Aung FootHealth Clinics provides a wide selection of approved footwear and inserts.
